Instagram is testing its new 'Closed Captions' sticker for Instagram Stories.
The function generates automated subtitles for your Stories video in a variety of text forms.

This was demonstrated by Matt Navarra. When you add the caption sticker to your story, a 'Transcribing audio...' prompt will appear on your screen. This allows you to watch your video's text in time with your speech.

The tool could open up new possibilities for companies and creators, making it easier to reach a larger audience and ensure that their stories are understandable in both sound-on and sound-off settings. The automated captions, as seen in the example, are not flawless, so you will need to review the text. It is unclear whether Instagram will allow users to alter text directly within the UI.

Instagram has not set a public release timetable, but considering the advanced nature of this prototype, it is expected to be released shortly.
