Tempering
Tempering introduces a new dynamic to item customization. Tempering Manuals, obtainable from Diablo 4 Items defeated enemies, contain various affixes centered around specific build types or themes. Players can apply one of these affixes at random to an item through a blacksmith. If the outcome is unsatisfactory, affixes can be re-rolled up to the item’s Tempering Durability limit.
Masterworking
Building on the Tempering system, Masterworking is a late-game crafting feature that allows for significant item upgrades. This system enables players to enhance their current affixes by up to 12 ranks, with substantial boosts occurring every 4 ranks. This means a single affix can see a massive upgrade, adding another layer of Diablo IV Items depth to item progression.
