DHL is a German logistics company that specializes in courier, package delivery, and express mail services.

The company delivers over 1.7 billion parcels annually, making it one of the leading parcel service providers in Europe. DHL Express, a subsidiary of DHL Group, is the company’s express mail service and is the main courier and parcel service in Germany. DHL was founded in San Francisco, United States, in 1969. By the late 1970s, the company had expanded its services worldwide. In 1979, it entered the Hawaiian Islands as DHL Air Cargo, providing an inter-island cargo service using two Douglas DC-3 and four DC-6 aircraft. Adrian Dalsey and Larry Hillblom oversaw the daily operations of the company until its eventual bankruptcy in 1983. At its peak, DHL Air Cargo had over 100 workers, management, and pilots.
