Careprost Bimatoprost is a medication that is primarily used to treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It belongs to a class of drugs called prostaglandin analogs. When applied as eye drops, bimatoprost works by reducing intraocular pressure in the eye. It does this by increasing the outflow of fluid from the eye and reducing the production of fluid within the eye. By lowering intraocular pressure, bimatoprost helps to prevent damage to the optic nerve and preserve vision in individuals with glaucoma or ocular hypertension. In addition to its primary use in treating glaucoma, bimatoprost has also been found to have a side effect of promoting eyelash growth. When applied to the base of the upper eyelashes, it can enhance the length, thickness, and darkness of the lashes.
